Unfortunately the weather had its own plans and we ended up with no friends and a big pot of rice instead of a fun. A Rice cracker is a Japanese snack made from rice. The traditional rice crackers are called Senbei and arare. Depending on type, they are made from glutenous or non-glutenous rice.

Instructions to make Rice Crackers:
  1. Take a bowl add rice flour salt.Mix the dry mixture.
  2. In a blender put ginger,curry leaves green chillies grind it to a fine paste.
  3. Add this paste to the flour along with chana dal.Mix well.
  4. Add butter to the mixture and mix well as it will work as a binding agent.
  5. At this point add Few drops of water.Knead the dough.
  6. Divide the dough in equal parts as desired.
  7. Make small balls out of it similar to a dumpling.
  8. Take a plastic sheet rest the dumpling on it,cover it with the other side of the plasticsheet press it with your palm.
  9. Repeat the same procedure for all dumplings.
  10. Heat oil in a deep frying pan.Ensure that oil has reached it's correct temperature then add chekkalu slowly.Allow it to cook on medium flame.
  11. They are ready to be served.

Crackers made from glutenous rice are called arare or okaki. They have a soft texture and easily dissolve in the mouth.
